Service description

Cordwallis Lodge offers accommodation-based service intended to be short-term for mixed gender adults aged 18-65 years. The service is for people who live independently  in the community but require minimal support.The service is tailored to meet the needs of adults with mental illness, with or without substance misuse, or learning disabilities.


This service;

Actively support people to engage with appropriate local services.

Provide a safe and supportive environment for people we support.

Support people  to live independently in the community.

Provide staff support that is commensurate with the needs of people we support.

Work in partnership with people we support, adult social services, NHS healthcare services, primary care services, alcohol treatment services, community services, and local authorities.

Developing personal and social living skills.

Developing coping and behaviour strategies.

Help in finding more independent accommodation.

Help in maintaining home security.

Monitoring of health and well-being.

Supervision on medication.

Helping in maintaining tenancy.

Access to local communities.

Advice, advocacy and liaison.

Helping in managing finances and benefits claims.

Liaison with mental health services and other relevant services.

Risk assessments.

Support with preparing menus and meals.

Support with accessing the community.

Support with engaging with providers of appropriate services.

Support with accessing educational, occupational, social and leisure activities.

Description of the house

Cordwallis Lodge is located in the North Town area of Maidenhead. It is easily accessible with street parking. There are 3 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms. There is a good size kitchen dinner equiped a 4 burner gas cooker with an oven, microwave oven, shared fridge/freezer, dish washer, washing machine, dryer, crockery, and lockable individual food storage cupboards. There is a good size living room with a 6-seater suite and a television (freeview). Service users can have televisions in their own bedrooms and they are free to install cable / satelite television at their own expense. Outside there is a small size paved courtyard.


Local area

The house is within walking distance of the High Street shopping facilities including Nicholson's Centre. Many community facilities are within walking distance, including the 8-screen Odeon multiplex cinema, Magnet leisure centre, Oaken Grove Park, Maidenhead Library, Braywick Sports and Recreation Grounds and Tenpin Maidenhead bowling alley.  In the Boyne Hill area there is Norden Farm Centre for the Arts and Waltham Place Estate on Church Hill which includes an ornamental garden integrated within a 200-acre (80 ha) organic and biodynamic farm estate. A wide variety of restaurants and supermarkets are easily accessible. The River Thames runs 12 mile to the east of the town centre and is within walking distance.


Transport

Local bus services provided by First Berkshire & The Thames Valley, Arriva Shires & Essex and Courtney Coaches are all within easy reach. Maidenhead town is very close to junction 8/9 on the M4 motorway and is accessed via the A404(M) and A308(M). Maidenhead railway station on The Great Western Main Line passes through the town and offer frequent, direct services to London, Reading, Newbury, Didcot and Oxford. There are also less frequent direct services to Banbury, Hereford, Worcester and Great Malvern.
